Tools for Inactive Nurses
Finished nursing school, then took a break? Gave up nursing for a few years to raise a family? Whatever your reason for getting out of the nursing profession, now is a great time to get back in! Since you've already got the training, why not look into ways to re-enter the nursing workforce?
Interested? Your first step might be a refresher course, which will teach you about the current state of the nursing profession and refresh all the skills you learned in nursing school. Click here to get more information on refresher courses, and where to find them.
It might also help you to contact local hospitals, schools of nursing, and nurse recruitment agencies. Since the nursing shortage is so severe, one of these places in your area is bound to know of refresher courses for nurses.
One other resource you might try is Nurse Sponsors. Nurse Sponsors specializes in "Inactive Nurse Expos," where nurses who wish to return to the profession can learn about new opportunities and meet recruiters.
If you're a nurse who has been unable to work because of illness or disability, you might be eligible for a grant from Nurses House.
