Monmouth Junction, NJ
RN, Sr. Occupational Health Nurse

I have been a nurse for over 31 years, more than half of my life. Ever since I was five, I wanted to be a nurse. I couldn’t wait to get a toy nursing kit as a gift. When I received one, my family, pets, and dolls became my captive audience. I believe that certain professions, like nursing, have a calling. I felt I had that calling. Over the course of my career, I have worked as a hospital nurse, a visiting nurse, and a camp nurse. Currently, I’m an occupational health nurse. As a nurse, I have developed many skills which I draw upon each day: good interpersonal skills can make a profound difference in another person’s sense of well being; organizational skills ensure that all our processes and programs run smoothly; good teaching and selling skills can motivate those who need our help. Using these skills proficiently enables me to help someone deal with whatever challenges he or she may face. As a nurse, I wish that every day would end with a healthier life for everyone, but I know that this is not realistic. If I had it to do over again, I’d try to reach even higher so that one day everyone would be healthier and my dream would be fulfilled. I believe that it is a privilege to be a nurse.
