Ruth M.-W.

New York, NY
RN; Patient Education

The number one rule of nursing is that you must love patient care. If you stay focused on your patient, you can’t go wrong. Nursing is such an all-inclusive field. As a nurse, I must have a broad knowledge base as well as critical thinking skills, computer skills and people skills. And it’s such an exciting career — after all, I get to save people’s lives! As an Air Force nurse, I've had the opportunity to take on leadership positions by serving on several committees. I am involved in the decision-making process at the hospital and I know my opinions are valued. I feel very secure in my job because I know my love for nursing shines through in my work. I know if I work hard, I will always be in demand. The prospects for nurses are wide already, and they’re expanding every day. Like everything in life, nursing is what you make of it.
