Connie K.

New York, NY
RN; Intensive Care

One of the things I love about nursing is that it’s a physical, hands-on job — I certainly don’t sit behind a desk all day. While some days are better than others, I find that the rewards are greater than the disappointments. What keeps me going is the knowledge that people need me. Patients rely on me to get them through the day, through the pain, and through the healing process. I welcome that responsibility and take pride in my work. Also, I’m always learning in my job. We use a lot of machines to monitor patients, and the technology is constantly evolving. We always have to be up to date on the latest machines, drugs and treatments, and I find my mind is always working. I know I make a difference. Every day I’m proud to be a nurse.
